Federal
courts are responsible for adjudicating all federal felonies and
civil cases. ERS's federal court check searches these federal court
records to find records of cases concerning employees and applicants.
See our Criminal History FAQ
for more information.
When
a case is located, ERS uses the subject's name, date of birth, social
security number and/or address to verify that the subject of the
case is the same person as the subject of the search. Not all of
these identifiers can be found on all cases. The most commonly used
identifier for federal cases is the subject's date of birth and
address.
